Walter J. Humann

Walt Humann is a results oriented Chief Executive with considerable experience and a proven track record for building and growing successful global companies and leading high-performance teams in high tech environments, particularly medical devices. Most recently, Walt served as President and CEO of OsteoMed, LLC, a leading surgical device manufacturer based in Dallas, Texas. He successfully led this fast-growing, highly profitable global enterprise for almost twenty years, focused on small bone orthopedics, craniomaxillofacial, neurosurgical and spine surgical implant devices as well as powered and non-powered specialty surgical instruments and biotechnology product offerings. Walt’s leadership at OsteoMed recently culminated in the successful sale and transition of the company to Berkshire Hathaway.

Prior to joining OsteoMed, Walt led Leibinger, LP, a surgical device manufacturer and grew this company to the market dominant position where he successfully helped the German owner sell the company to Pfizer Inc. and subsequently to Stryker Inc. while managing the company through all ownership transitions in progressive leadership positions including CFO, COO and General Manager. After beginning his career at Bank of America and predecessor banks, Mr. Humann helped start RealPage, Inc. a market leading, real estate property management software and internet development company where he served as CFO and helped facilitate the spin off from its parent company, led all growth activities, completed several acquisitions, and pre-IPO financing activities including a $20MM private equity placement.

Walt has also been active on various profit and not-for-profit boards, including the Medical Device Manufacturing Association in Washington D.C., Skeletal Kinetic LLC in Cupertino, CA, Perot Museum of Science and Nature, Momentous Institute and as a founding director of the Frontiers of Flight Museum. Walt serves as Chairman of the Executive Advisory Committee of the University of Texas at Austin’s College of Engineering, Biomedical Department and participates on the Venture Mentoring Service for North Texas (VMS NTX) associated with UT Southwestern Medical School, UT Dallas and UT Arlington as well as UT Southwestern’s Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) program. Walt is an active member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), Salesmanship Club of Dallas, Dallas Assembly and Highland Park Presbyterian Church.
