Ray Estep is Managing Director for Estep Growth Partners LLC based in Dallas TX and Wilmington NC. His firm serves investors, CEOs and boards by optimizing performance and follow on sell side liquidity event outcomes for investor/operator owned companies planning to exit within 24 months. He specializes in driving growth, performance improvement, operational scale, and value creation for rapidly growing middle‑market SaaS, AI, and tech‑enabled services businesses.

Throughout his career, Ray’s leadership has contributed to more than $3 billion in capital returns to shareholders through seven successful exits, including high-profile acquisitions by Google, Leonard Green & Partners, and FedEx. He has played a pivotal role in raising equity and debt capital and has closed over $1 billion in M&A transactions, supporting executive teams through every stage of growth.

Ray’s expertise spans private equity, corporate venture, angel investing, board membership and public company leadership, with a focus on M&A, corporate development, finance, and strategy. He has held a wide range of leadership roles—including co-founder, interim CEO, CFO, COO, board member and advisor—demonstrating a broad, hands-on approach and a commitment to team success. He also mentors and coaches emerging executive leaders for high growth early-stage venture development, at times taking on board and interim CxO assignments.

His sector experience is broad and deep, encompassing software and technology, healthcare, logistics, consumer goods, entertainment and media, and retail. This diverse background enables him to bring a unique perspective and adaptable skill set to each engagement.

Ray holds an MBA from the University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business and is a licensed CPA. He divides his time between Dallas, Texas, and Wilmington, North Carolina. Outside of his professional pursuits, Ray is a devoted husband and father, and an accomplished musician and drummer who brings creativity and rhythm to every facet of his life.
