George Ellis joined Accumen as CFO in mid-November 2020 after having served in that role on an interim/parttime basis for six months. Mr. Ellis is responsible for Accounting and Finance, Legal, and Strategic Partnering for Accumen and its constituent companies.

Prior to this role, George served as a Managing Director with the Health Care Practice of Huron Consulting, with similar responsibilities its Leadership Development service line. He served in this role from 2011 via Studer Group, which was acquired by Huron Consulting in 2015.

Earlier experiences include over 40 years of general operating and financial management of software, telecommunication and semiconductor companies.

George has a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Texas Tech University and a JD from the SMU Law School. He is a licensed CPA and Attorney in the State of Texas and, also has certifications in Cyber Security.

Selected Experience

§Lead and transformed the software business at Huron Consulting. Creating a $40M business unit from a diverse portfolio of individual offerings.

§Grew The Studer Group from its acquisition by a private equity firm and successfully facilitated its sale in 2015 to Huron Consulting.

§Lead or facilitated over 30 acquisitions and restructurings over a 15-year period, primarily while serving as Chief Financial Officer of two NTSE registered companies.

§Built channel or other business partner relationships, primarily in software, for four companies, including Huron.

§Participated in or lead over $1.0B of financing and refinancing including three Initial Public Offerings.

§Served as Board Chair or Board Member of five companies, three of which were sold with above average returns and two of which remain public today.

Personal

George lives in Dallas, TX. He is married to Anne, a licensed CPA and Clinical Psychologist. Together they have five children, three dogs, and four horses. Spare time interests include community engagement, outdoor experience and reading. He is a partner with Social Venture Partners Dallas
